A dollar from each ticket purchased goes directly to URGE, which works to help children in Jamaica and Ethiopia. The show starts at 9 p.m. and tickets run $35-$45.

Nosh, schmooze and make business connections within the ever-growing community of Jewish business people, professionals, trades people and corporate executives at Temple Etz Chaim (1080 E. Janss Rd., Thousand Oaks) from 7-9 p.m. There is no charge to attend one meeting. Yearly dues are $65 and include two holiday parties/mixers and free attendance at all branch meetings.

4. Conversations with: Markus Flanagan and Guest at Cal Lutheran

Theatre arts lecturer Markus Flanagan moderates this popular speaker series in which guests candidly discuss pursuing a career in “the biz,” followed by Q-and-A with the audience. Among the guests who have joined Flanagan, as schedules permit, are Jeffrey Tambor (“Mr. Popper’s Penguins”), Yvette Nicole Brown (“Community”), Spencer Garrett (“Luck”) and Molly Hagan (“Chaos”). 5. High School Volunteers Needed for Reyes Adobe Days

The City is looking for volunteers to fill shifts in the activity booths and a handful of spots are still available on Saturday and Sunday, October 1 and 2. Don't miss your chance to be part of this community-wide event, while earning community service hours for college.
