This couple is Pilar (she is the cute 10-year-old female Chihuahua) and Petey (the handsome 11-year-old male Chihuahua). They were traveling together on the streets before finding their way to the Agoura shelter as strays. But make no bones about it, they seem very content to be with the shelter volunteers and staff.
Here are some things you should know:
- They are very quiet, calm and super friendly.
- They have had their senior wellness check-ups and each had dental care, but overall are healthy with normal blood work. Petey has a minor heart murmur but he doesn’t need any treatment.
- They are quite bonded and would like to be adopted together. When they are separated they won’t even eat.
Worried about the cost of adopting them because they are older? Don’t be. Veterinary attention and medication are needed at all ages and may or may not be more costly for an older dog. They just need all the same things younger dogs do–good nutrition, exercise, love, attention and regular vet visits.
They should easily adapt to your schedule, because for the first time perhaps in a long time, they will know what it’s like to be part of a family.
