Oct. 11: Zoo Fundraiser; John Sebastian, Jimmy Vivino Perform

Take a tour of the Getty Villa, learn about Afro-Columbian Hip-Hop and help raise money for a teaching zoo.

2. Getty Villa Collection Highlights Tour

Get an overview of major works from the Getty Villa's collection during the Collections Highlights Tour. The one-hour tour is held daily at 2 p.m. every week day, with the exception of Tuesday. Space is limited for this tour, so please arrive 15 minutes before the tour to sign up at the "Tour Meeting Place."Admission is free. Parking during business hours is $15 per car or motorcycle.

3. Expert to Discuss Afro-Columbian Hip-Hop at CLU Thousand Oaks

Christopher Dennis, an associate professor at the University of North Carolina, Wilmington, will discuss his new book Afro-Colombian Hip-Hop: Globalization, Transcultural Music, and Ethnic Identities at 5 p.m. in Lundring Events Center on the Thousand Oaks campus. A reception will be held at 4:30 p.m.

4. Rendezvous at the Zoo Fundraiser

Enjoy wine and hors d'oeuvres, experience up close animal encounters and take part in a silent auction on the new terrace of the Exotic Animal Training and Management Building of the Moorpark Teaching Zoo at Moorpark College from 6-9 p.m. Tickets in advance are $40 plus an additional $1 processing fee. 5. John Sebastian & Jimmy Vivino at the Canyon Club

Sebastian, lead singer of The Lovin' Spoonful, and Vivino, leader of the Conan O'Brien band, pool their talents. The show starts at 9 p.m. Click here for ticket information.
