Life Change Community Church Changes Name to California Community Church

Pastor Brad Johnson cites the church's new vision and direction.

Life Change Community Church has changed its name to California Community Church to reflect a new direction, growth and vision, according to Pastor Brad Johnson, founder. The new name embodies a growing state-wide presence bringing the word of God to more people using today’s technology.

“The Church elders and I, as well as our congregation, are very excited about a new direction and vision,” said Johnson. “We’ve seen remarkable growth in attendance with people from other cities in the almost three years since we were founded.  While we celebrate our past, we want our new name to reflect our multi-site initiative. Our motto is ‘Reaching California for Christ–One Community at a Time.’”

Johnson added that it will be the same church experience, the same teaching, the same DNA, but multiplied to many locations via technology.

Initially, the sites being considered are in Malibu, Santa Monica and Calabasas.

Johnson believes that the way to a successful ministry must include technology, effectively going computer to computer. “The door into most households opens through technology,” he said.

“We recently completed a Church-wide survey and discovered that those who attend valued special things about our community, including the live band, greeters, informative programs for children and students of all ages, special events and outreach to those less fortunate,” Johnson said. “We listened, and we intend to replicate these aspects of our church in every new location. It won’t be just a television monitor and seats.  It will be another community of worshipers who live in the same area, who can invite neighbors to come with them and who prefer not to travel for Sunday worship.”

Johnson also pointed out that a key component that sets this Church apart is its commitment to those less fortunate. “When we founded our church, we pledged to support humanitarian and compassionate endeavors. This same commitment will spill over into our other locations with dedicated members expanding our promise,” he said.

The Church recently packaged and shipped 55,000 meals to Haiti, participated in the building of a Habitat for Humanity home; sponsored dozens of under-resourced children in Africa; assisted mothers in need in Ventura County; and provided monthly meals and supplies for the homeless in the San Fernando Valley.

In addition to the expansion, California Community Church will change its hours of worship beginning the first Sunday of November to 9:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. Everyone is welcome to visit California Community Church located at the Sheraton Agoura Hills, 30100 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills, 818-707-1220.

The information we received from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station was that a mentally illRead More patient was removed from the bus Sunday night. No one was harmed, officials said.

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?

then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
