July 7: Hazardous Waste Program; Documentary Screening

2. Hazardous Waste Program

The City of Agoura Hills is offering its limited Monthly Hazardous Waste Program. In conjunction with neighboring cities in Los Angeles County, a monthly “Used Motor Oil Roundup,” is available where you can deposit waste oil as well as other hazardous items. Participants stage at the parking lot for item collection from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Acceptable items are used oil, oil filters, anti-freeze, car batteries and latex paint (water based only). Unacceptable items are stains, varnish, enamel paints (oil based), pesticides and household batteries.

3. Agoura Hills Library Book Cellar

The Book Cellar offers books, CDs and DVDs for children, young adults, and adults. Your purchase in the Book Cellar, which is open every Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m (except Christmas and New Years) helps support the library activities.

4. Fairy Tales in the Park, Westlake

Fairy Tales in the Park is a series of free, live theatrical performances geared toward children ages 3 to 10. John and Roxanne Diesel co-founded Gypsies in a Trunk, an all-volunteer troupe of actors performing free fairy tales for the young and young at heart. The shows start at 12:30 p.m. at Foxfield Park, 31965 Foxfield Dr. (Lakeview Canyon & Lindero).

5. Which Way Home Screening and Discussion

Which Way Home, an Academy Award-nominated documentary film that follows the dangerous journeys of migrant children riding on freight cars to the United States, will be screened at a Community Forum in Newbury Park at 7:30 p.m. The screening at the Conejo Valley Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will be followed by a discussion about undocumented children who have grown up in this country and have no path to citizenship.
