Martin is a one-year-old male Jack Russell/Chihuahua mix. He was turned in to the shelter for being too vocal. That may be because he was left outside by himself all the time.
He was very skittish when he first arrived but has since warmed up and enjoys spending time with people.
Here are some things you should know about him:
- He has been housed with other dogs and is fine with most but not all.
- It appears that he had no training prior to coming to the shelter.
- He is very smart and should learn quickly.
- Because he still uses his mouth in play, it would be best if he went to a home without young children.
He will need someone who knows about puppies and can be patient during his transition into a new home; someone who understands that it takes more than a few days to help make a pup feel comfortable and part of his new surroundings. If you have any questions, there are a volunteers at the shelter that are certified dog trainers who will be happy to help him get settled and even assist in training him.
Come to the shelter to meet Martin. If you have another dog at home, bring him or her with you to do an introduction to make sure they are compatible. The shelter staff will assist you with this once you have decided to adopt.
To choose Martin, request ID A4500542. The Agoura Shelter is at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit the website.
