Gas Prices Drop to Lows for 2012

This is the longest price-dropping streak since a 90-day streak back in 2008.

 

The average price of a gallon of self-serve regular gasoline in Los Angeles County dropped today to its lowest amount since Dec. 29, decreasing seven-tenths of a cent to $3.628.

The average price has dropped on 68 of the past 69 days and is 6.7 cents less than one week ago and 21.8 cents lower than one month ago, but 6 cents more than one year ago, according to figures from the AAA and Oil Price Information Service.

The average price has fallen $1.077 over the past 69 days, including 1 cent on Sunday. It decreased for 48 consecutive days, was unchanged Nov. 27 and resumed dropping the next day.

The Orange County average price decreased today for the 70th consecutive day, falling 1.1 cents to $3.591, its lowest amount since Dec. 28.

The Orange County average price has decreased $1.099 over the past 70 days, including 1 cent on Sunday, after rising 51.3 cents over the previous six days to a record high of $4.69 on Oct. 8.

The Orange County average price is 7 cents less than one week ago and 21.3 cents lower than one month ago, but 6 cents more than one year ago.

The streak of dropping prices is the longest since a 90-day streak from
Sept. 16-Dec. 14, 2008.
