Roxy is Ready to Leave the Shelter

This engaging 5-year-old boxer mix is very well behaved.

Roxy is a 5-year-old fawn and white female boxer mix. She was living on the streets as a stray before she came in to the Agoura shelter. When she arrived, the staff and volunteers saw that her front paw was pretty badly deformed so she was taken to a private vet.

It turns out that the deformaty is likely a birth defect that requires no regular treatment at this time, just an occasional dose of an anti-inflammatory on those days when she has been very active and may hold the foot up to give it a rest. She can walk and run just fine and does use her funny looking foot for support on a regular basis.

The bandage on her foot that is seen in the photograph was temporary. She had a small growth removed that required two stitches. There are no after effects from this minor surgery.

Here are some things you should know about her:

  • She hasn’t met a toy she doesn’t enjoy–stuffed, roped, kong, balls–she loves them all.
  • She is good on leash, although she is strong.
  • She is good with the children that she has met while at the shelter.

So far, she seems to ignore all other dogs (even that little Shih Tzu who was barking his head off at her at the vet!)

She can be left alone in the shelter’s “real room.” She has been well behaved during her visits and hasn't harmed the furniture or urinated in this replica of a living room.

The hope is that despite not being the ”prettiest girl on the run,” that you might be attracted to her droopy eyes and sweet demeanor. If so, please ask to meet her.
