Central Figure in 'Born to Run' Book Found Dead

Micah True, a main character in the Agoura Hills 'One City, One Book' focus 'Born to Run,' was found dead in New Mexico's wilderness after having gone missing.

Update: Medical examiners are conducting an autopsy on the body of ultrarunner Micah True, but it could be days before a cause of death is known, according to ABC News.

Searchers in New Mexico found True's body last Saturday after he went missing last week in the Gila National Forest, according to a report from ABC News.

His cause of death was still unknown, said the report, but incident commander Tom Bemis told the Boulder Daily Camera that there were "no obvious signs of trauma." A cause of death would not likely be determined until Monday, according to the report.

True disappeared on March 27 and search efforts were launched across the region.

True, 58, was depicted in Christopher McDougall's best-selling book, Born to Run, in which he took up residence in the remote Copper Canyons of Mexico among the Tarahumara, a desert-dwelling tribe of the best ultrarunners in the world, said the report.

Born to Run was the focus of Agoura's 'One City, One Book' program last week at which McDougall made his appearance. During last Thursday's book discussion and signing, McDougall had announced to the audience at City Hall that he would be leaving to help in the search efforts.
