Rosie's a Good Ol' Gal

This 10-year-old pit bull is as easy-going as they get.

Meet Rosie, a 10-year-old female pit bull. Nothing is known about her past, because she was all alone on the streets until she found her way to the shelter. It is hard to imagine why a “senior girl” was out on her own, but she is doing well at the Agoura shelter thanks to all the attention given to her by the great volunteers.

Here are some things you should know about her:

  • She is good with people and other dogs.
  • She has an easy-going demeanor.
  • She is easy to walk.
  • She loves baths.
  • She enjoys riding in the car and was excellent on her trip to the vet.

Worried about adopting her because of her age? Don’t be! Vet attention and medication are needed at all ages and may or may not be more costly for an older dog. She had her senior wellness check up paid for by a non-profit group and other than some arthritis in her knees for which she needs an anti-inflammatory, she is in good health with normal blood work results. She needs the same things as younger dogs do: good nutrition, love, attention and regular vet visits.

Did you know that older dogs generally have had some obedience training? They know what "no" means and have learned many of life’s lessons. They tend to settle into a new home easily, have mellowed so they can focus on things you may want to teach them and are less demanding because they don’t need the same amount of exercise that a puppy needs.

Rosie is a low maintenance gal who needs little exercise (short walks at the most) and makes a great companion to hang out with. So if you are looking for the love that “pitties” like her are known for, look no further

To choose Rosie, request ID A4458264. The Agoura Shelter is at 29525 Agoura Road, Agoura Hills. Occasionally pets have already been adopted. To check availability, call 818-991-0071 or visit the .

The information we received from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station was that a mentally illRead More patient was removed from the bus Sunday night. No one was harmed, officials said.

John, it was reported on KTLA. You can find it at KTLA.com and do a search of "Agoura HighRead More graffiti."

Bob, who reported it was one of the kids on the list?

Either way it is wrong and uses the race card as a "despicable stunt"

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?

then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
