5 Things You Need To Know Today: Oct. 13

An afternoon of sports and an evening of city issues are on today's itinerary.

Welcome to "5 Things You Need to Know Today," a new Patch column where we give you essential information at a glance. Check back each day for more, and let us know what you think of this new feature in the comments.

  1. Are you a parent of a high school student who is looking to get involved? Agoura High's Parent Faculty Club is meeting at 9 a.m. in the Community Room of the Agoura Hills Library.
  2. Chargers fans can enjoy an afternoon of cheering. Beginning at 2:30 p.m., Girls Varsity Golf will be playing at Westlake High School; Boys Varsity Water Polo at 3:15 p.m. and Boys Junior Varsity Water Polo at 4:15 p.m., both at Moorpark High School.
  3. At 6 p.m., Ladyface Alehouse & Brasserie will host its second Brewmaster's Dinner. An amuse bouche plus four courses, each paired with a special Ladyface ale presented by Brewer Dave, are on the menu. Tickets are $70.
  4. A few items on the City Council agenda may tickle your fancy: the Redevelopment Agency's Agoura High School affordable housing projects, business registration permits relating to compensation for medical marijuana, and proposed amendments to city council norms, particularly pertaining to the selection of Mayor.
  5. Feeling social? The Conejo Valley Business Group is holding its second annual mixer. For $10, guests can enter a raffle and pass around business cards.
