Small Business Saturday: Brewing Success in Agoura Hills

Just in time for Small Business Saturday on November 30th, The Lab Brewing Co. a unique small business in Agoura Hills, has celebrated its two-year anniversary.

 “We consider ourselves here a small business. We are locally-owned and operated. Having my own brew-pub was always a dream of mine,” said owner and head brewer Roger Bott.

Over 90% of all registered businesses in the U.S. are classified as ‘small businesses’ and craft brewers are a growing segment among new registering businesses. Bott himself spent over 20 years brewing and preparing for one day opening his own brew-pub business.

The Lab first opened its doors in November 2011 with the sole mission to brew delicious craft beer, offer a menu beyond the usual “bar food” and offer a space for live entertainment in the heart of Agoura Hills. Two years later, The Lab boasts over 30 craft beers on tap including brews from other local craft brewers like Enegren Brewing of Moorpark. This year The Lab team has expanded to include a new Executive Chef Wes Pumphrey, who had previously been a chef Craft, Montage Hotel and with Jose Andres at The Bazaar.

“We’re a great example of having a small business that works by being unique and by truly being a part of the local community with how we give back, and host local events and bands. It’s the perfect way to keep a small business growing,” says Bott.
