Sunset Room Closes

The local nightclub posts a "farewell message" on Facebook, according to the Ventura County Star.

The Sunset Room in Agoura Hills has closed, a little more than a year after it opened in the Agoura Road building, according to the Ventura County Star. No reason was given in the report.

Hollywood restaurateur Chris Breed and partners launched the nightclub in October 2011, the VC Star said.

The local hot spot recently made news when a patron was injured while trying to break up a fight in the parking lot.

On the business's Facebook page, a farewell note is posted that reads:

"It is with heavy hearts and great sadness to announce Sunset Room in Agoura Hills is officially closed. Thank You to our loyal staff and amazing customers for all of your support."

I am saddened that another business in Agoura Hills is shutting their doors. It seemed inevitable with all the restrictions and regulations that our City Council placed on this business from the moment their doors opened. For example the SunsetRoom had different last call times until recently, they had to fight the city tooth and nail to survive. Their closing is no surprise.Shame on our city.

Regardless of the reasons for the Sunset Room closing, the city had no business scrutinizing the details of how this business operated. The City's requirement that the SR maintain a kitchen staff, and even monitoring what was on the menu, was over the top. The recipe was for f-a-i-l-u-r-e.

Agree Nona!! My point exactly the City's rules and regulations on this business were over the top!!! The owners of the Sunset Room were treated like punished children. Shame on our public officials

Sounds like they needed some adult supervision... http://agourahills.patch.com/articles/drunken-brawl-under-investigation-in-agoura-hills

Agoura Hills is a family oriented suburb. And we like it that way. Lingerie fashion shows and entertainment in the parking lot isn't so great if you live nearby.

Oh, come on Meril. That's not why the restaurant closed.
