Recipe Provocateur: Agoura's Famous Deli Inspired Chinese Chicken Salad

Fresh and flavorful, this salad is packed with colorful zest.

Salads are the perfect way to group delectable ingredients and nutrients into one gratifying meal. At Agoura's Famous Deli, they truly know how to pack a palatable punch.

This salad has been on the menu for years and is also a local favorite. Although Agoura's Famous Deli was unable to reveal the exact recipe, I came up with an inspired recreation based on the ingredients listed on the menu. For a simple yet satisfying lunch or dinner, try this.

Prep Time: 15 to 20 minutes.

Serving Size: One large individual-sized salad.

Ingredients:

4 to 5 cups of chopped romaine lettuce or preferred lettuce choice.

1 cup of crispy wonton noodles.

1/2 cup sliced mandarin oranges.

1 1/2 cups of chopped, shredded, and seasoned chicken breast, along with 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 1 1/2 tablespoons sesame seeds, 1/4 cup green onions.

3 to 4 tablespoons sesame dressing (for more or less to taste, double or triple the recipe): 2 tablespoon sugar, 1 teaspoon salt, ½ teaspoon ground pepper, 3 tablespoons oil, 1 tablespoon sesame oil, 3 tablespoon vinegar.

Instructions:

1) Place lettuce in a large mixing bowl.

2) Add the noodles and oranges.

3) For the seasoned chicken: dice raw chicken breast, and brown in frying pan with sesame oil, sesame seeds, and green onions until fully cooked.

4) Add the cooked chicken to salad.

5) Mix dressing ingredients together and let sit for five minutes.

6) Add desired amount of dressing. Toss, and enjoy!
