Coming Soon: Maddy's Market

General manager Mitzi Poulin talks with Patch about the organic grocery store, which will open November 8 at the Summit in Calabasas.

Calabasas will soon be home to an organic grocery store as Maddy's Market gets ready to welcome customers.

The 16,000-square-foot store, which will open November 8, will be the anchor of the new Summit at Calabasas shopping center at Agoura and Lost Hills roads.

Maddy's Market will sell organic produce grown by local farmers, meat, seafood, dairy and non-dairy products, gluten-free items and beer and wine.

Mitzi Poulin is the owner, operator and general manager, backed by a partner who invested $5 million in the store.

Poulin helped run Erewhon Natural Foods in West Hollywood, a health food store that sells foods without refined sugar and other restricted ingredients.

But Poulin said attitudes will be a little more lax at Maddy's Market, where she plans to sell some brand name products such as Heinz Ketchup.

"There's a lot of kids around the area and kids love Heinz Ketchup, my kid loves Heinz Ketchup," she said.

In addition to the previously mentioned goods, Maddy's Market will also offer the following amenities:

  • Full-service deli and bakery
  • Pizzeria
  • Herbal elixir bar
  • Three-room wellness clinics with acupuncturists
  • Events and lectures

A job fair is being held all this week for Maddy's Market.
