City to Take Over Business Licensing Process

The license application process has been streamlined to make it easier for businesses to locate in Agoura.

The City of Agoura Hills is making it easier for new businesses to apply for licenses by removing the extra step of having to go downtown to get it.

Previously, after filing with the city, business owners would also have to physically go downtown to register with the City of Los Angeles.

Beginning July 1, those who wish to start up locally will only have to apply directly through the city, which will then coordinate reviews with LA County agencies, according to Mike Kamino, Director of Planning.

"Certain types of businesses will still need to take that extra step," said Kamino. "For example, restaurants will still need to file with the Health Department, but they can coordinate a business license with us."

Agoura Hills is one of five incorporated cities in LA County, out of 88, that still contracts with the county for business licensing, Kamino said.
