Allied Artists and the National Park Service (NPS) will host an art exhibit and sale at the Santa Monica Mountains Visitor Center on Sunday, March 24, from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. at King Gillette Ranch in Calabasas. The one-day exhibition will reflect the work of more than 20 local artists who paint “en plein aire” landscapes of local mountains and beaches.
"It's wonderful to be inspired by the spectacular beauty of the Santa Monica Mountains, to share it with others who also appreciate it and then help preserve it through our donations," said Allied Artists member Donna Goldstein.
The artwork will be displayed in the courtyard of the visitor center, which opened last summer and is jointly operated by the National Park Service, California State Parks and the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority.
Refreshments will be provided. Both the event and parking are free.
In addition to benefitting local artists, 20 percent of all proceeds will be donated to environmental and conservation groups in the community.
