Join the Cultural Arts Council

Have a passion for the arts? Want to see more of it in Agoura Hils? Sign up now for the CAC's Cultural Arts Resource Board.

In December 2010, the City of Agoura Hills established the Cultural Arts Council as part of a Cultural Arts Initiative. There were several components of the Initiative that also included the creation of an artists' society that would support and substantiate the Cultural Arts Council and their role in the cultural arts movement in Agoura Hills.

"We are reaching out to the community to help us formulate the film society ... we are also working on a historical component involving the Reyes Adobe Historical Site .. [as well as] working on a teen event," Cim Castellon told Patch at the fireworks and Concert in the Park event July 8.

The CAC is looking to create the Cultural Arts Resource Board (CARB). The general duties of CARB members will be the following. Each member may be assigned to a specific area of their interest once completing the application and interview process.

  1. Support and market existing Cultural Programs that the City of Agoura Hills provides to the 91301 community.
  2. Advise the CAC on possible opportunities that can/will enhance the Cultural Experience of 91301.
  3. Help unify the Cultural Community in 91301–Artists, Film Makers, Musicians, Actors, Designers, etc.
  4. Provide a "City Calendar" that informs the residences of events that are provided (free or for a fee) the 91301 residences.
  5. Art in Public Places
  6. Historical Buildings
  7. Community Art Gallery/Annex at the Adobe
  8. Assist with annual CAC working budget and strategize on how to generate revenue for that budget (via fundraising, grant writing, corporate sponsorship, etc.)
  9. Define Community Culture by connecting what the 91301 community wants with the City's overall vision for cultural arts.

The information we received from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station was that a mentally illRead More patient was removed from the bus Sunday night. No one was harmed, officials said.

Bob, who reported it was one of the kids on the list?
Meril Platzer May 18, 2013 at 11:04 am
Either way it is wrong and uses the race card as a "despicable stunt"
Bob Thomas May 18, 2013 at 10:18 am
Not a hate crime at all. Just a very stupid kid trying to manipulate the system so he could beRead More granted a athletic transfer. One of the kids on the "hit list" was the perp. Really despicable stunt.

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?
Dave April 7, 2013 at 07:29 am
then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
