Lindero Canyon Middle School is holding its annual Jazz Nite fundraiser on Wednesday, February 6. Proceeds of the event are going towards funding a trip for the Jazz A band and combo band to compete in the Reno Jazz Festival in April.

"We've won [in the middle school competition] the last three out of four years," said Matt McKagan, the director for Jazz A Band.

The goal of the event is to raise $10,000 to attend what McKagan describes as the biggest school jazz festival in the country.

"It's a chance for us to compete against schools all across the Western United States and to feedback from professional judges," he said. "I am most looking forward to staying at the hotel with my bandmates and hopefully bringing home another awesome trophy for Mr. McKagan."

The evening includes a pizza dinner, prizes, a silent auction and entertainment by the Jazz A and B bands as well as celebrity guests and a professional jazz performance.

The festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. and tickets are $10.
