High Note for Agoura's Fall Concert

The high school music program's first performance of the year goes off without a hitch.

Three choirs, two symphonic string orchestras, three wind ensembles, three jazz ensembles, and a marching band performed to a packed audience on Thursday for Agoura High's .

Music Directors John Mosley, , and Chad Bloom selected an impressive repertoire for their students, spanning the ever-popular "Eine Kleine Nachtmusik" by Mozart, the difficult and discordant "Pictures at an Exhibition" by Mussorgsky, and the heavy orchestra number, "March to The Scaffold," by Berlioz.

Parents, teachers, and friends were once again impressed by the high school program, which has been recognized for its intensive, comprehensive music opportunities.

In 2010, Mixed Choir participated for a fourth consecutive year in the LA Master Chorale High School festival, conducted by Grant Gershon. The Jazz B ensemble won first place in their division at the Reno Jazz Festival, and the Jazz A ensemble placed 2nd in their own division. In addition, Women's choir, Concert Band and Orchestra II received excellent ratings for their festival performances.

This year, plans for the top Jazz Band include participating in the Savannah Jazz Festival. The secondary jazz bands will be performing in Reno, and the orchestra will go to New York for the National Orchestra Cup.
