Foot Stompin' Western-Themed Festival Rides Into Agoura Hills for Good Cause

The Smoke & Saddles BBQ Festival makes its debut at the Whizin Market Square August 10 to benefit Free Arts For Abused Children.

The eight participating restaurants– Woodranch BBQ, Hugo’s Restaurant, Tifa Chocolate, The Latigo Kid, Numero Uno Pizza, Blue Table and Carrera Pastries–will serve full portions of barbecue and more to the guests.

Event organizer Alan Semsar said he wanted to bring recognition to the community.

"[The event] gives back to the community of business owners in Agoura Hills and Malibu by bringing them new business. It gives back to the guests by showing them a good time. And finally gives back to the charity which is an amazing cause," he said.

Free Arts for Abused Children programs inspire hope in the lives of children who have experienced abuse, neglect, poverty and homelessness through innovative creative arts programs and positive interactions with caring adult volunteers, according to the website.

Country western singer Ann Marie, originally from Thousand Oaks, will provide the entertainment along with Sophie Rose.

Semsar said the western theme fits right in with the Agoura Hills landscape.

"The area is surrounded by horse ranches and horse lovers," he said. "They can actually bring their horses to the event and we have an area for 'horse parking.'"

Tickets are $85 per person and includes a tasting cup to sample unlimited drinks and food samples from the participating vendors.

The event takes place from 6-11 p.m. at 28914 Roadside Drive.
