SYNOPSIS: “Dirt!” - The Movie (www.dirtthemovie.org), is an insightful and timely film that tells the story of the glorious and unappreciated material beneath our feet. Inspired by William Bryant Logan’s acclaimed book “Dirt: the Ecstatic Skin of the Earth”.  It takes a humorous and substantial look into the history and current state of the living organic matter we come from and will later return to.

FILMMAKERS:

Bill Benenson: Director, Producer Award-winning filmmaker. 30-plus years producing and directing experience. Champion of global welfare.

Gene Rosow: Director, Producer Accomplished producer, writer, director. Over 30 years filmmaking experience.

This film brings to life the incredibly important environmental, economic, social and political impact soil has on all of us.  An eclectic group of participants ranging from biologists to prisoners offer answers to problems and inspire us to clean up the mess we’ve created. More than just the lessons it teaches, “Dirt!” the Movie is a call to action.

One of Mariposa's Wellness Committee’s missions is to empower the community through education.  A parent on the film selection panel says “I was completely unaware and unprepared for the beauty, simplicity, rawness and depth.  We chose this movie because it moved us, and we'd like to open minds and warm hearts to this earthy matter.”

MARIPOSA ELEMENTARY SCHOOL OF GLOBAL EDUCATION:

It supports wellness, good nutrition and physical activity as vital components of the total learning environment, as schools achieve their primary mission of education if students are healthy and fit physically, mentally and socially.  For more information on Mariposa or the Mariposa Wellness Committee, please visit http://www.mariposaglobal.org
