The Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council is presenting a special movie experience with the 50th anniversary screening of Sam Peckinpah’s 1962 western classic Ride the High Country under the stars at the Reyes Adobe Historical Site.
Guest speaker is author, screenwriter and television producer David Weddle who wrote the biography on Peckinpah, If They Move…Kill ‘Em!, The Life and Times of Sam Peckinpah. Weddle is currently the writer/co-executive producer for the television series Falling Skies.
Ride the High Country stars former Thousand Oaks resident Joel McCrea and filming locations included the Santa Monica Mountains nearby the Reyes Adobe.
Originally appearing as a second feature in 1962, the movie earned its way to top billing through public appeal and won First Prize at the Cannes Film Festival and Film of the Year by Newsweek.
The Ride the High Country anniversary screening is one of the many innovative public programs being presented by the Agoura Hills Cultural Arts Council.
