Mountain Lion Killed in Agoura Hills

A young, uncollared mountain lion is fatally struck by a car on Kanan Road.

By City News Service

A young, uncollared mountain lion was fatally struck by a car on Kanan Road, just south of the Ventura (101) Freeway, on Monday, the National Park Service confirmed Thursday.

The kitten was estimated to be about 4 months old, and the lack of a tracking collar suggested that an uncollared female was roaming the Santa Monica Mountains, according to the Park Service.

The body of the mountain lion was turned over to a biologist with the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area and taken to UCLA for DNA testing, which may yield answer questions about its mother and father, according to the NPS.
