Check out our picks of things to do this weekend.

The weekend is here, and if you don't have plans for it yet, Patch can help. Here's a list of events and activities taking place not too far away!

Employing women and artists of color in non-traditional roles, this production is set against the backdrop of Game of Thrones to create a fresh and compelling take on this classical work. Shows are at 8 p.m. Saturday and 3 p.m. Sunday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 17500 Burbank Blvd., Encino. Tickets are 25.

Seaside Highland Games: Up the coast just a bit, Ventura will host the Seaside Highland Games, a Scottish festival featuring pipers and drummers and other sorts of entertainments, dance, athletics, kids' events, shopping and drinks and food (the press release didn't mention whether there would be plenty of haggis to be had . . .). The event begins with a whisky tasting from 5 to 10 p.m. Friday and continues on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Ventura County Fairgrounds, 10 W. Harbor Blvd., Ventura. One-day tickets are $16 for adults 13-61 years, $14 for military personnel and seniors 62 years and older and $5 for children 6-12. Kids 5 and younger are free. See the festival website for two-day ticket prices.
