More than 350 patrons enjoyed a taste of local art while sampling appetizers and sipping fine wines and beer under the stars at the historic Reyes Adobe in Agoura Hills at Night at the Adobe.

Presented by the city’s Cultural Arts Council, Night at the Adobe is the opening reception for the Art@theAdobe exhibit, transforming a rustic barn into a vibrant gallery and museum store showing the works of local artists, photographers, artisans and authors during the Reyes Adobe Days festival.

This year’s featured artist was Crystal Michaelson who began establishing her art career in Agoura Hills while raising her family. (Her son, ABC reporter Elex Michaelson served as grand marshal of Reyes Adobe Days.)  Now based in the art hub of Venice on the Westside of Los Angeles, Michaelson’s mixed media work is collected coast to coast. Also on display were the striking landscapes of renowned Santa Monica Mountains photographer Tom Gamache whose talent captures the seasons and moods of the diverse range. Returning artists Larry Deeds, Debbie Green and Wes Van Dyke also showed their latest works.

A highlight of this year’s event was a sneak preview of Rock & Roll photographer Lisa Johnson’s “108 Rock Star Guitars” book. The collection of the most famous guitars and the legends who owned them, dedicated to the late Les Paul, is being released Oct. 8 in New York.

Night at the Adobe is a special fundraising event in support of the local arts. The Agoura Hills Cultural Art Council brings many cultural experiences of the 91301 region to the public. You can find a listing of local arts and entertainment events on the council’s website 91301.org.
