April 12: A Board of Education Meeting and Meet Mark Twain

The LVUSD school board will be meeting, kids can create their own books, and attend a historical exhibit.

As part of celebrating National Library Week, kids will have an opportunity to write and design their own books at the library from 3:30-4:30 p.m. Later in the evening, legendary author Mark Twain, portrayed by actor Brian Rugalbuto, will drop by to talk about the Adventures of Huckleberry Finn. The school board will be meeting at district headquarters in Calabasas at 6 p.m.  Items scheduled for information include an updates on the budget and a bullying prevention program.

4. Title IX Community Forum at Cal Lutheran

Do you “Know the Score”? Local coaches, athletes and others will participate in a panel discussion on Title IX and its impact on educational opportunities for young women in the Conejo Valley and beyond. Attorney Elizabeth Kristen will lead the discussion. The event is free and begins at 7 p.m.

5. A Contemporary Look at the Jewish Past in Poland" in Malibu

Pepperdine University’s Diane and Guilford Glazer Institute for Jewish Studies presents an exhibit examining relics of Jewish life and culture in Poland on the second floor of Payson Library. The exhibit includes photos by late photojournalist Chris Schwarz and research and texts by Dr. Jonathan Webber, vice-chairman of the Institute for Polish-Jewish Studies at Oxford. The exhibit will run through April 25 during regular library hours. For more information, visit the web site.
