Amgen Tour Next Week Expected to Close Local Roads

The final day will start in Thousand Oaks, go through Agoura Hills, head toward Malibou Lake and then return to the Conejo Valley.

The annual Amgen Tour of California bike race arrives in Los Angeles County next Friday, and by Sunday will be in the mountains near Malibu; motorists can expect crowds and brief road closures along the race .

The bicycle race's first stage was today in Sacramento, and race stages will move south towards Los Angeles County all week.

Sunday's final stage will see the riders making three circuits on a course that starts in Thousand Oaks and then winds into Agoura Hills, before turning south to Mulholland for a steep climb past the "Rock Store" on Mulholland near Malibou Lake.

After winding along Mulholland and again crossing Kanan-Dume Road, the riders will descend back into the Conejo Valley via Westlake Boulevard.

Because the riders are making three circuits, traffic in Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Agoura Hills, and the mountain roads north of Malibu can be expected to be jammed midday Sunday.
