Why Go: Come see the Tony-winning musical that the New York Times calls “irresistible.”

SPRING TIME AT THE ADOBE 

Where/When: Leonis Adobe Museum, 23537 Calabasas Rd., Calabasas; Saturday, April 16, 1 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Why Go: Baby animal visits, an egg hunt, tortilla making, live music and blacksmith demonstrations? Sounds like fun for the whole family!

Pricing: $2-$4

TRIBUTE TO ROCK ‘N’ ROLL LEGENDARY PHOTOGRAPHER

Where/When: Ensele Art, 23480 Park Sorrento, Calabasas; Saturday, April 16, 5 p.m. – 9 p.m.

Why Go: Because they just don’t make ‘em like Richard E. Aaron. The great photographer’s art will be on sale—there will also be auctions, live music, appetizers and wine. Proceeds go to the Kidney Foundation.

Pricing: $20

SCANDINAVIAN FESTIVAL 

Where/When: California Lutheran University, 60 W. Olsen Rd., Thousand Oaks; Saturday and Sunday, April 16-17, 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.

Why Go: Immerse yourself in the Nordic cultures! Activities include a parade, crafts, storytelling, exploring Viking villages and plenty of food.

Pricing: $7 (free for kids under 12)

THE TEMPTATIONS

Where/When: The Canyon Club, 28912 Roadside Dr., Agoura Hills; Sunday, April 17, 7 p.m.

Why Go: Check out one of the best-selling singing groups of all time and hear hits like “My Girl” and “Papa was a Rolling Stone” live.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.
