5 Things You Need to Know Today: Dec. 11

Patch's free coffee day at Tifa is finally here, adopt a pet in front of Emporium Garden & Gifts, and check out "Deck the Hills."

  1. The big day is finally here: Agoura Hills Patch's  at . The first 300 customers to arrive between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. will get a free French press brew, as well as the shop's fabulous hot chocolate for $1, and of course Patch swag. We've been counting down since Monday in our Chocolate Chronicles, profiling the sweet shop's finest chocolatiers.
  2. 's ''Paw-lidays'' is on. Adoption fees will be reduced through Dec. 24. The  in the Whizin's shopping center is hosting four to six dogs in need of adoption from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. The shop will also be raffling its own gift items, as well as those donated by Country Hills Pet Hospital and Mary Peters Exclusive Art at 3 p.m.
  3. Many veterans' families need holiday help. Encino-based organization Operation Gratitude is gearing up to send 50,000 care packages to the country's men and women in uniform during this holiday season, including its milestone 600,000th Care Package today.
  4. Are you looking for the perfect, live Christmas tree this year? Agoura Hills residents don't have to drive far to find the fresh trees. There are a couple  where you can find them, and learn how to properly care for your tree .
