The Triunfo YMCA, serving Westlake Village, Agoura and Oak Park, is signing up participants for its summer swim classes and swim team. Two-week swim sessions begin June 16 with the last swim session beginning August 11

Swim lessons take place at Agoura High School (28545 Driver Ave., Agoura Hills). Parent/tot lessons are for parents and their children under age three. Preschool and school age group swim lessons include eight, 30-minute classes over the span of two weeks (Monday through Thursday). Private lessons are four, 30-minute classes.

Children are placed in swim classes based on age and ability. If parents are unsure of their child’s swim level, the child can be evaluated.

The Triunfo Y is also conducting tryouts for its Otters swim team. All participants must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle, 25 yards of backstroke and 25 yards of breaststroke. Swimmers have the opportunity to compete in summer swim meets with other local YMCAs.

“Swim team members work on perfecting their stroke techniques, building endurance and striving to reach their personal best,” says Brittany Kahle, Triunfo Y Aquatic coordinator. “The emphasis is on fun, friendly competition and camaraderie. Competition in the swim meets is not mandatory.”

Swim team members must be 6 to 14 years of age. The team meets Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Agoura High School pool. Swim team dates are June 16 through August 15.
