Solo Artist Series Draws Full House

The opening reception of Agoura Hills’s first Solo Artist Series exhibit held inside the Reyes Adobe’s historic barn was packed with local art supporters on a recent Friday night. Patrons came as far as Marina Del Rey to view and purchase the works of Agoura Hills resident Wes Van Dyke.

The 28-year-old Van Dyke paints his passion for the outdoors in detailed, vibrantly colored landscapes and seascapes. His portfolio also includes black-and-white graphic portraits of celebrities and canines he is often commissioned to portray.

Patrons sipped wine and nibbled appetizers while admiring Van Dyke’s most recent and popular canvases of beach scenes, mountain settings, and local landmarks. Prints of the originals were also available for purchase.

Local artisan Devin Krista displayed her custom handmade jewelry. Nicole Honda was prompting her friend as to which piece to show her “significant other“ in hopes of receiving for Valentine’s Day. Proceeds from the event help support the upcoming 2014 Teen Art Show.  Honda found the evening a wonderful addition to Agoura Hills’s growing cultural arts scene. “It’s so great to have an art event like this to go to on a Friday night that you can just walk to.”
