Los Angeles, CA, September 24, 2013 – Morgan Stanley Wealth Management has announced it is hosting a region-wide suit donation drive in an effort to help Southern Californians in need of business attire for job interviews, networking functions and other employment opportunities. The drive has been coordinated jointly with a group of charities from across the region.
During the event, which is set to take place from Monday, Sept. 23 to Friday, Sept. 27 at 46 Morgan Stanley branches across Southern California, employees and clients will be encouraged to give back to their local communities by donating suits.
“We are proud of the work we do every day finding creative and meaningful ways to invest in the communities we serve,” said Jeff Adams, Morgan Stanley’s Southern California Regional Director. “This suit drive presents an excellent opportunity for our whole team to engage in an important local philanthropic effort. We are grateful to the group of committed community nonprofits that have partnered with us, and played an instrumental role in making this idea a reality.”
Morgan Stanley is hosting the drive in partnership with Costa Mesa-based Working Wardrobes – an organization dedicated to empowering at-risk men, women, veterans and young adults to enter the workforce confidently and achieve self-sufficiency. Additional partners from across the region include prominent local workforce advocates Dress for Success San Diego, Unity Shoppe and Shoreline Workforce Development Services, a division of Goodwill® Industries. Shoreline provides support to
job seekers through their One-Stop system.
“For an at-risk young adult or a veteran working hard to get back on track, basic business attire for a job interview can mean the difference between securing a job and going home empty-handed,” said

The regional suit drive is just one example of Morgan Stanley’s ongoing philanthropic efforts in Southern California. Throughout this year, the company’s Los Angeles and Long Beach offices have hosted a series of informational meetings for Financial Advisors and staff to raise awareness of the homeless and to support the October 28th West Coast launch of Back on My Feet (BOMF). BOMF is a national organization that uses running to help those experiencing homelessness changes the way they see themselves and, ultimately, achieve independence.
In addition, Westwood-based Financial Advisor Steve Winston has demonstrated a strong commitment to local philanthropy, with his longstanding service as a leader on the Board of Directors for A Place Called Home (apch.org) – a youth and community center providing exemplary educational support, counseling, arts programs and college scholarships to hundreds of youth in South Central Los Angeles each year.
