Ben Babylon Band Opens for Little River Band

For the third time this year,
a group of Conejo Valley teen musicians will take the stage at The Canyon Club
in Agoura Hills, when the Ben Babylon Band (BBB) opens for the legendary Little
River Band on Saturday, November 10.

In August, the young,
up-and-coming band opened for light-rock group Air Supply. The BBB’s performance

went over so well with the sell-out audience that the manager asked them to
play longer than originally planned. Last April, the BBB opened for The JAZZMATICS™, a
powerhouse band featuring top jazz musicians and funk musicians.

Originally from Australia, Little River
Band has sold more than 30 million albums worldwide during the past four
decades, and is responsible for many hits including "It's a Long
Way There," "Help Is on Its Way," "Reminiscing,"
"Lady," "Cool Change," "Lonesome Loser" and many
more.

"I have always admired Little
River Band," said singer and songwriter Ben Babylon, of the Ben Babylon
Band. "Their song structures are simple but powerful, with amazing
melodies. One of my favorite songs of theirs is 'Reminiscing.' I am
looking forward to opening for them."

Babylon, now 15 years old, is
a multi-award-winning pianist and keyboardist. The BBB is also comprised of
other accomplished teen musicians. Lead guitarist Brian Schwartz, 16, has
performed multiple times at The Canyon Club, various Hollywood clubs and at the
annual NAMM Show (National Association of Music Merchants). Drummer Alex
Andrews, age 13, began drumming at age 3 and performing in clubs by age 8. He
studies with internationally acclaimed drummer Gregg Bissonette (Ringo Starr,
ELO, Santana, David Lee Roth). Bassist and backup vocalist Robben Bixler, age
16, is a self-taught musician. He is the son of children’s recording artist
Leslie Bixler, and sang lead vocals on one song on her recent CD “Moon Food,”
which she produced in collaboration with Dick Van Dyke.

The Ben Babylon Band performs
original music. “It’s an alternative rock sound, with hints of jazz and blues,”
says Babylon. Popular songs include “Contradiction,” “Dreams for Sale,” “Cage”
and “Dorky Loves Doughnuts.” Defying its title, “Dorky Loves Doughnuts”
spotlights intricate musical depth and sophistication. “Dorky is a fan
favorite, and the band enjoys it, too, as we have an opportunity to rip loose
on our instruments,” Babylon said. Babylon’s song “Contradiction,” recorded
with the Elton John Band, is available on iTunes.

Little River Band and the Ben Babylon Band will
perform Saturday, November 10
at The Canyon Club, 28912 Roadside Drive, Agoura Hills, CA 91301-3304. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. The Ben
Babylon Band will play at 8:00. Little River Band will play at 9:00. Under 18
must be accompanied by a paying adult. For information, call The Canyon Club at
818-879-5016 or visit

The information we received from the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's station was that a mentally illRead More patient was removed from the bus Sunday night. No one was harmed, officials said.

John, it was reported on KTLA. You can find it at KTLA.com and do a search of "Agoura HighRead More graffiti."

Bob, who reported it was one of the kids on the list?
Meril Platzer May 18, 2013 at 11:04 am
Either way it is wrong and uses the race card as a "despicable stunt"

Thanks for your great perspective on this issue. We should all unplug once in awhile.

I think for the most part, people are mentally drained. Few take the time to sit back relaxRead More anymore. Even when we do have a minute to ourselves, we're constantly bombarded with emails, text messages and status updates. If we unplugged ourselves from our devices, we might find the serenity we all so desperately need. Turn your phone off, take a hike. Find a big tree next to a creek and sit under the shade. Enjoy nature. Listen to the sound of the water, the birds and the breeze as it moves through the brush. When you get back to nature, if only for a short time, you'll leave with a clear mind and feel revitalized. You're right---technology was supposed to make our lives more simple. Instead, it fuels the attention deficit disorder as our brain becomes a hashtag with a constant barrage of (often useless) news and updates. Although I'm young, I'd give anything to go back to the days where calling someone often led to a wild goose chase of finding an available payphone and spare change to make the call.

If you can't talk politics with friends without being able to agree to disagree or even end upRead More losing them as friends then they were not the "friends" you thought they were anyway.

It's not about moving forward, it's about saving your breath! That's the whole problem; too muchRead More talk and not enough action! You gonna eat that fish or just hold it up in the air?
Dave April 7, 2013 at 07:29 am
then again, if you only speak with people who agree with you, how do you ever move forward? aren'tRead More you just "spinning your wheels" staying in the same spot never moving forward?
