Agoura Hills Seeks Volunteers for New Community Service Day

)  Individuals, families, churches, schools, service clubs, scouts, and seniors are invited to sign up for the City of Agoura Hills’s first Community Service Day taking place on Saturday, May 3.

Work projects include painting, staining, gardening, cleaning and trash pick up at public parks and facilities. Sunscreen, water bottle and a hat are recommended. Materials are provided for projects that require them.  Hours are approximately 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Meet at Chumash Park. Continental breakfast is available.  After the service projects are completed, volunteers are invited back to Chumash Park for a free lunch, entertainment, and a community service fair.

Mayor William Koehler, inspired by the local volunteer support Agoura Hills receives from residents for many of its civic events and projects, suggested the city initiate the program which other cities have successfully adopted. “There’s a lot of hometown spirit in Agoura Hills. Having a Community Service Day is a great way to meet other residents, acquire community service hours and enjoy the benefits from making things a bit nicer around town,” said the mayor. Community Service Day will become an annual event.
