Blog: Wireless Security 101

A mobile solution to keeping your home safe

This blog post is sponsored by ADT.

There’s no place like home, especially when it’s a safe home. According to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, home robberies occur every 12 seconds, and approximately one in six homes will be burglarized this year. Now it’s more important than ever to protect your loved ones and your belongings by installing a home security system.

With many alarm systems to choose from, including wireless and hard-wired, you may be wondering where to start. In a world run by smart phones, landlines are becoming a thing of the past. So if you’re thinking about installing a home security system but you don’t have a landline, a wireless alarm system is your best bet.

While traditional systems are still effective, there are many advantages of installing a wireless system. Using battery-powered wireless sensors allows you to have a complete security system without running costly electrical wires through your home—a great alternative for people living in older homes, condominiums or apartments.

And since wireless systems have their own batteries, they can be easily installed in locations in a home where there is no electrical access, saving you time and money. The system can also be expanded as needed, and integrated with home automation systems that allow you to monitor your home remotely by a phone or computer system. Plus, wireless security systems are portable, so you can easily take yours with you if you move.

One of the biggest draws of installing a wireless security system is that it is usually very affordable, with most alarm monitoring companies offering specials to new customers. But the best plus of all is peace of mind. If you decide that a wireless security system is right for you, there’s no reason to wait. Get started today so you can be certain your home and family will be safe from harm.

Your first line of defense is still your physical security, espcially high secuity locks.
The idea is to keep them out and send the burgler next door to easier prey. An Alarm goes off 'after' they are in so it is you second line of defense, we know, we have both, Vikki Flam at www.flamslockandkey.com

Get an alert dog. We have two who have "alarm" barks that warn "keep away!" And they mean it!

"Excuse me: if whoever was in this house is still in the house, I'd like you to know that I've just called the police. I'd also like to add that I've got my father's gun and a *scorching* case of herpes."

What about the times when the "alert dog" barks incessantly with no response or attention from the owner? The poor neighbors have to listen to it, in the hot summer season when all their windows are open.

John - that line randomly pops into my head from time to time. Doesn't matter how bad a mood, always cracks me up. Thanks for the giggle!
