Trout Dale

Located on Troutdale Road off Kanan Highway, Trout Dale, Inc. has been around since the early 1900s, and its message has been the same since the first day it opened: "A little bit of country just minutes from the city."

The local fishing hole is made up of two 13-feet deep man-made lakes, which are replenished with about 1000 pounds of trout every two weeks, according to Aro Kldzhyan, manager of Trout Dale, Inc.

Kldzhyan said what he enjoys most is watching his customers catch that first fish. "The children start screaming and the parents start screaming, because it's probably the first fish they've both ever caught," he said, sitting along the edge of the lake.

Ali McCallister has gone fishing all over the world, but this trip was the first for her two young boys.

"Trout are amazingly fun to catch, especially for kids. They're easy to reel in and hook," she said, standing beside her children with rod in hand. "Unfortunately, they're very delicate fish, so they die pretty quickly, so you have to commit to eating them."

General admission to Trout Dale is $7 and includes poll, bait and a bucket. Caught fish are an additional cost.
