Cabral Continues to Shine in His Quest for the Gold

Agoura's Johnathan Cabral dominates the competition at the Golden West Invitational in Folsom, CA.

s Johnathan Cabral has been breezing by competition in the 110 meter and 300 meter hurdles all year, resulting in an undefeated season for both events. He has just become a C.I.F. (California Interscholastic Federation) State Track & Field champion and is headed to Oregon University at the end of the month.

Cabral took his talents to northern California on Saturday to compete in the Golden West Invitational located in Folsom. Cabral once again dominated the competition:

2. Jonathon Jones 11 Unattached--13.80

Both of Cabral's times were not only best in the tournament on Saturday, they were hundreds of a second off the tournaments all-time record. This invitational is a stepping stone for many runners in their quest towards gold in the Olympics.

The Golden West Invitational has seen the likes of Bob Beamon (gold medalist, long jump), Evelyn Ashford (gold medalist, 4x100 relay), Willie Smith (gold medalist, 4x400 relay) and Marion Jones (gold medalist, 100 meter & 200 meter) just to name a few.

Cabral can be seen next competing in the Pan American Games in Florida this July. He will continue to train at Oregon University while going to school and focusing on the Olympic Trials slated for June 22 to July 1 of 2012.
