Agoura 'Masters' Wrestling, CIF Quarterfinal for Girls Basketball

A recap of Agoura High weekend playoffs and games to come.

Another Chargers team was knocked out of the playoffs, but other teams are still rising. 

Girls Basketball:

  • The Chargers advance to the quarterfinals in playoffs for the third year in a row and move their record to 21-7. They defeated Camarillo over the weekend, 74-57. Samantha Fisher had a career-high 27 points with five 3-pointers in the third quarter alone. Noam Leead and forward Camille Mahlknecht added 13 points each. One of their key players, junior guard Kylie Cunningham, was out for the season with a hernia. They host Sonora High School at home Wednesday at 7 p.m.

  • Coach Ritterbush said his team did as well as he expected in last weekend's tournament. Daniel Opferman was seeded third and went 5-1 with one fall for 3rd place. Scott Haskell was seeded third as well and went 4-1, wrestling in the Championship match last Saturday night. He lost and took second. Ethan Rieder was seeded second and went 6-2 with two falls. Reider ended up losig in the consolation round taking fourth. They have all qualified for the Masters Tournament this upcoming weekend in Temecula. In all, the Marmonte League has 17 wrestlers heading to the tournament. 

Boys Soccer

  • In Friday's match against J Serra High School, the Chargers ended their season in a tough 2-1 loss. They end the season with an overall record of 11-8-6 and were league champions. 

Girls Water Polo:

  • A quarterfinal upset knocked the Chargers out of the playoffs. The Wilson Bruins secured a next round beating the AHS girls water polo team 10-7. The team ends their season as Marmonte League champions with an undefeated season. Their final overall record was 22-8.
