Agoura Boys Basketball Edges Newbury Park for the Victory

The Agoura varsity boys basketball squad fends off the Panthers of Newbury Park with a 56-55 victory.

Girls Soccer

  • The Agoura varsity girls soccer squad traveled to Thousand Oaks to battle the Lancers in their Marmonte league opener. From kickoff, the Chargers were connecting their passes and controlling possession. In the first half, they put together a few plays that created quality shots on goal. Brooke Held and Maya Aviezer both pressured the opposing goalie, but came up empty. In the second half, the Chargers continued to control the tempo of the game but couldn't place one in the net. The Charger defense had an outstanding game led by Kinsey McLaughlin, Hengameh Kamali, Rachel DeLuca and Kelsey McLaughlin. Kelcie Brodsky recorded a shutout with four saves and helped Agoura grab its first point in league play. The Chargers are now 0-0-1 in league and 1-1-2 overall.
  • On Thursday the Chargers hosted the Panthers of Newbury Park in their league home opener. The Chargers entered the game missing four players from their roster due to injury. The first half was a physical battle with both teams refusing to budge. Midway through the first half, Kelcie Brodsky made an amazing save, punching an incoming corner kick out of the box. With minutes to go in the first half, Natalie Fersht put her head on a corner kick which was amazingly blocked by the opposing goalie. In the second half, both teams continued to challenge the opposition's defense to no avail. Kelcie Brodsky once again posted a shutout and Agoura now moves to 0-0-2 in league play. The Chargers will be attending the Hart Soccer Tournament over winter break and hopefully will regain some players from injury before league play resumes in January.

Boys Basketball

  • The Agoura varsity boys basketball team hosted the Lancers of Thousand Oaks on Tuesday in its league home opener. The Chargers maintained the lead for the first three quarters by connecting their passes and hitting their shots. They let the game slip away in the fourth quarter and ended up losing a tough one 57-45. Michael Soffer and Matt Meredith combined for 23 points and Jeremy Yarin grabbed 10 rebounds for the Chargers.
  • On Thursday, the Chargers looked to grab their first league win against a very sound Newbury Park Panthers squad. The game was extremely close throughout with numerous lead changes, but Agoura was able to fend off the Panthers in the end, recording the much needed 56-55 victory. The Chargers move to 1-1 in league play and 5-5 overall.  

Boys Soccer

  • The Agoura varsity boys soccer squad hosted the Lancers of Thousand Oaks Oaks on Tuesday in its league home opener. The game was extremely close, with both teams taking turns testing the opposing team's defense. The Chargers were the first to score in the first half when Matt Lautz placed the ball into the back of the net off an Eric Aguilar assist. The Lancers would match the Chargers in the second half, and the game would ultimately end in a 1-1 tie. Peyton Parrish, Agoura goalie, recorded five saves in the effort.
  • On Thursday, the Chargers traveled to Newbury Park to battle the Panthers. Once again the game would be very close and end in a 0-0 tie. Peyton Parrish posted a shutout with four saves and helped Agoura record another point in league play. Agoura now moves to 0-0-2 in league. The Chargers entered tournament play on Saturday in the Valley Kick-off Classic and won't resume league play until after the holiday break.  

Wrestling

  • On Wednesday, the Agoura varsity wrestling squad travelled to Thousand Oaks to battle the Lancers in attempts to acquire a team victory in league play.

Girls Basketball

  • The Agoura varsity girls basketball team competed against the Lancers of Thousand Oaks on Tuesday. The Lancers proved to be too much early and eventually grabbed the 78-65 victory over the Chargers. Agoura sophomore Noam Leead led the team with 31 points and nine rebounds. Kylie Cunningham contributed 17 points, seven rebounds and four assists.
  • On Thursday, the Chargers hosted the Panthers of Newbury Park in attempts to grab its first league win.

Girls Water Polo

  • The Agoura varsity girls water polo squad battled the Panthers of Newbury Park in its league opener. The Chargers would ultimately prove to be too much for the Panthers recording a 20-5 victory.
  • On Thursday, the Chargers challenged the Royal Highlanders of Simi Valley in attempts to remain undefeated on the season.
